Nomad Digital are the World’s leading “IP networks to trains” solution provider and want to extend our product portfolio with this move into passenger information and entertainment. Last but by no means least we want to improve our footprint in the German market.
It’s our goal to continue the business of Inova Multimedia GmbH with you as usual and to serve you as a supplier with an extended product and service portfolio.
Infotainment and Entertainment for 1 Billion Passengers a Year
Inova Multimedia offers turnkey solutions for integrated information, entertainment, and CCTV to public transport operators, vehicle manufactures and content providers.
With experience in multimedia systems for over 10 years Inova is established as a worldwide well known supplier with installations e. g. in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Malaysia and Switzerland. As of today we have delivered more than 6,000 system with over 28,000 displays.
Inova has enlarged its product range within the last years by integrating new technologies and services into the original infotainment area. Safety and protection of passengers and staff always become more and more the daily matter. Therefore Inova has developed an Ethernet based video surveillance system, which can easily be added to any Infotainment solution. This combination brings many advantages to our customers: one single supplier, easy system maintenance and cost savings during installation and maintenance.
Since 2008 Inova is offering a fully Ethernet based solution which further simplifies the installation and the maintenance of the system. All components are connected to a single Ethernet backbone, which is not limited in length or layout.

Realtime Passenger Information and Passenger Entertainment Systems
The provisioning of information for travelers, either visually on TFT-screens and/or through announcements on the speaker system. The selection of each information, which is provided to the travelers, depends on the time, the position and other external signals of the vehicle. The system can be connected to the vehicle via a variety of interfaces used in bus and railway technology, e.g. IBIS, RS-485 or Ethernet. As extended features the Infotainment system provides connection information, delays and emergency messages even in realtime when connected to a wireless communication network.
No matter how many displays are connected within a bus or train, Inova always provides a fully digital transmission technology to ensure the best possible image quality. All screens are fully synchronized with each other and the optional sound of the entertainment module.
Of course all equipment is certified to the relevant standards like EN50155 and E1 and can be installed without further certifications.
Communication and Transmission Technology
Since 1997 Inova Multimedia is involved in the development of digital transmission technologies for transmitting data into and out of vehicles and of course within vehicles and combined trains. Installed technologies include: DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting), GSM, UMTS/3G, WLAN, and GPS-functions. Depending on the requirements of the project a single transmission technology or a combination of different transmission systems is used.
What separates Inova’s offer from others is the seamless integration of a content creation and distribution workflow into the Passenger Information System. This can be used by the marketing division or the OCC (Operation Control Center) of the operator or even by external content providers and advertisers. This allows to have either full control of the screens in each car or to alternatively focus solely on the passenger information part and leave all editorial work to an external partner.
The MUBIS® Studio Center is an easy to use software which allows to influence the information which is shown on the screens. The MUBIS® Studio Framework is a more complex software that allows to schedule and address the content, to receive confirmation about the playout of each piece of information and even allows to track any technical errors within the system.
Independently of the content creation the software integrates the passenger information part into the day to day operation of the operator, so that whenever a new route is created or the schedule is changed all vehicles receive this information immediately and therefore provide an excellent tool for guiding the passengers throughout the journey.
Together with a real time communication system (DAB or equivalent) and the existing AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) system the MUBIS® Infopool software can provide realtime connection information within each car. Over a standardized interface (VDV 453), the Infopool prepares the current information about location, direction and delay of each vehicle and calculates the expected time of arrival of each car or station and the resulting connections. This powerful tool allows the passenger to better plan his journey even before he has entered a vehicle.
The Ethernet based video surveillance system provides a complete family of ruggedized (E1, EN 50155) video surveillance products. These include cameras, dedicated vehicle server, Ethernet switches, hard-disk(s) and software. Video surveillance greatly enhances the security inside the cars, makes travel more secure and allows for an easy conviction after a crime.
Inova Multimedia successfully completed large turnkey projects for major customers like DBAG (commuter train between Frankfurt-Saarbrücken), BVG (Metro Berlin), üstra (trams and stationary Infoterminals in Hannover), Bombardier (trams for Dresden, Geneva, Gera and Darmstadt) and TPG (trams, trolleys and buses in Geneva).
